Class presentation and feedback
When presenting my music magazine to the rest of the class it allowed me to confidently sell my magazine and identify all the reasoning behind all the features of my magazine. It also allowed me to find out feed back from my peers to see what they thought of my magazine overall. I took this opportunity to ask my peers to fill out a five sheeted questionnaire that helped me with improving my magazine. From receiving feedback from my target audience will allow to me identity the improvements needed for my magazine to make it the best it could be. My main concerns I decided to address to my peers were issues with my contents page and third double page spread.
Improvements for my third double page spread:. Add more images to the right hand side of the page
. Not have a full bleed image. As they've been used frequently.
. Use other colours than black.
Improvements for my content page:
. Include images of artists/bands performing live. E.g. Reading Festival or Camden Round House
. Fill in gaps at underneath 'On the cover' with a subscription box.
. Write more headings for 'On the cover'.
I have listened to what my peers have sign from my feedback forms, however I disagree with some of the improvements, such as: not using black so often. This colour fits into my music genre of Indie/rock. It's a popular colour that is used in many well known magazines such as NME and Kerrang. I have listened to some of the improvements from my peers; I agree parts of it needed improving.
I have now changed my contents page by adding in some photographs I took at Reading Festival this Summer, I also took some more photographs of different models, to look like they where in a band. This filled in the space down the middle of my page. I also added a subscription box underneath 'On the cover' I decided this would be popular with my target audience because they're in the Class A,B and C1 and also working as most of them are at an older age they can afford to pay a little extra each month to have GRANITE my magazine delivered to their doors. I also double checked all of my sell-lines on my front cover to make sure I had included them on my contents page. I realised that I hadn't included them all so I added one that I miss in to fill the space.
I personally didn't want to change my third double spread because I really love all of the full bleed images. I also think it's really appropriate for my target audience because they have the money to spend and my magazine is priced at £4.00 a month, what is quite pricey for a new magazine coming out. Printing full bleed images in colour is quite expensive, but I love it. Because it's something different and unique.

New media
New Media
Media is currently taking over the world at the moment and everyone takes in some sort of media every day whether watching TV, reading the newspaper, listening to the radio or even reading a magazine or on line. Therefore, promoting a magazine through New Media is very simple; has become a very popular way of advertising/promoting in 2013.
Twitter
Twitter popularity has grown over the last 5 years and has become one of the most commonly used social networking sites with a range of users from David Cameron to Teens. It's purpose is for you to update on your thoughts and feeling about anything that is relevant at the moment. A magazine account on twitter would be perfect because it allows the followers to know exactly what to expect within the magazine and special offers/money off vouchers could be posted for the followers to use. You could post images of the magazine producers and things that go in with our magazine, by posting photos it can make the followers feel more involved in the magazine. The twitter account name would be put into every issue so it’s easily seen so the account would gain more followers; become more popular.
Facebook
Facebook is extremely popular today. Facebook allows you to create groups and pages for users to like. So, any information posted by the magazine page would go straight onto every person that liked your page’s timeline. Facebook and twitter can become very addictive and time consuming so there is no way that it wouldn't work due to people not seeing the posts. Facebook would make it easier to post photos, possibly some picture that are expected within the magazine and it also it allows other users to post what they think. E.g. commenting, sharing images and posts from my magazine to promote our magazine even more, this will also help our read ship to become wider. Gaining the magazine some free feedback there could be sections such as ‘Who do you want to be interviewed next?’ which would help with getting my magazine to suit my target audience really well.
Smart PhonesThe report shows black circles representing the times you’re currently posting and light-gray circles representing the level of interaction those posts receive. The biggest light-gray circles represent the best times for you to post based on your followers’ engagement. Most people of today own a smart phone iPhone, Blackberry or an HTC. All of which have access to the internet and allows you to download apps. An app is a great way to promote my magazine. It would be a free app because that way more and more people would download it which would also be available to all smart phones. As I think that is where there is a gap in the market, not all apps are available for all different types of smartphones so it limits who can download it. The app would send a notification to each phone when something very interesting occurs such as a competition; the notification would also remind the user to visit the app and find out what’s to come within the next magazines. Although the app would not have the whole magazine on it, it would definitely have some features and lots of images and information. I will include exciting pull quotes from interviews to wheel the readers into buying the next issue of my magazine.
InstagramThirteen percent of Internet users have Instagram accounts and more than half of the world’s top 100 brands are on Instagram. Your customers and potential customers are there as well. Including hash-tags to do with your magazine and what's involved in the context will help your target audience reach out to you and find out what you're all about. Hashtags are a way to group ideas, concepts or conversations. They make it easy for people to find others who are posting about topics they’re interested in. By including the appropriate hashtags in your updates, you can effectively reach new people interested in your magazine / company. The key is to use hashtags that not only describe your photos and business, but are also actively searched for and used on Instagram.
Posting at the peak time for your usersAs with all social networks, knowing when your community is most likely to engage helps you choose the most effective time to post. IconoSquare has an optimization report that identifies the best times for you to update based on your previous posting history and engagement.

The example above is taken from the Shopify Instagram account. You can see that the best posting times in this particular case are Friday at 9pm and Monday at 9am, surprisingly.
Engaging with competitions for people to repost a particular image to win a tickets free for a gig. This will then be advertising your magazine to their follows what should fit into your target audience. This will gain your magazines account more followers and views.

Promotional Methods
Promoting my magazine is one of the best way to make it a huge success if this is done correctly. I have started to think and plan out way to do this the best that will suit my target audience; it has to be appropriate for both genders and also be suitable for a wide age range. The more ways I promote my magazine, the more chance of my readership increasing and becoming more well known.
Bus shelters, Festivals, Social networking and Billboards are all great ways to promote my magazine. When choosing my promotional methods it is important that i choose something what would appeal to my target audience and be suitable for a music magazine.
One of the most popular ways to promote a business or product is on a billboard which will be found in a large city, near shopping centres or busy roads. This will be a very effective way to promote something brand new because they are overly large so they will attract a lot of attention because there and are located in a busy area to gain a lot of attraction. I want to create a very funky, unique and bright billboard as this will stand out from the other well known billboards it will draw the audience into my magazine. The billboard will display important information about my magazine such as the release date, networking sites that we will be using and talking about subscription deals! I will have to keep it in areas where my target audience are mostly likely going to be so i will have my billboard in places Camden, Shoreditch, Oxford St, Westfields shopping centre I decided these where a great choice of location because most of my target audience are out going confident people who enjoy going into central London and browsing shops. Camden is a perfect place because they tend to have a lot of gigs held in the Round house of the Indie/rock genre.
Another promotional method that my magazine will be using is advertisement on the side of a beer box. With a coupon that will give you a half price magazine for the first issue. This is a very effective method as my target audience enjoy drinking in there free time seeing as they are in the social class of A and B they can afford to drink on a regular basic men are associated mainly with beer, but men are 70% of my target audience with females only being 30%. I thought this would be a successful way of promoting my magazine because this beer will be sold in all supermarkets and worldwide. Many people will be able to see this and also with the half price magazine on the first issue this we wheel my audience into buying regularly. By using very vibrant colours and bold overasized fonts it will illustrate to my audience what my magazine is all about.

I personally think the promotional methods chosen for my music magazine will be very effective as they will appear across the country and are most likely to be seen in people's everyday life. When I design these adverts i will include bright colours, oversized bold font, strong pictures that will stand out against the already well known companies and products. It is very important that my advert are a perfect match for my target audience otherwise my magazine will not be a huge sucess.

Box out text
Smart, edgy and touched by genius, the London artists newalbum is an absolute triumph from start to finish. And the best part? She's just getting started...
Young's fifth record is absolutely and unarguably the most incredible album of their career. It might also be the greatest record of the last decade. It’s not, however, the work of the artist operating at their absolute peak – that’s yet to come. It’s the work of an artist still growing, still fine-tuning, still learning and still experimenting; a young girl who will not look back on this record as a career high, but the moment she stops being defined by genre and instead became a artist. Think Florence and the machine, think Daughter, think Birdy think Lorde point on, Charlotte young can do what ever she want, sound however she likes and always be herself. She's a idiosyncratic and that's what her fans love about her.
But that;s all for another day, sometime in her stupidly bright future. For now, we should celebrate this record for what it is - 41 minutes and 54 seconds of near perfection. It's the sound we've need to our ears. Let's begin with the details. Twelve track, recorded at Silence & sound recording studio in London, featuring guest appearences from Kings of Leon, The XX and Alt J. It was produced by Mark James and co- producted by Ross Orton, with the magical mixing done by Tchad Blake, who worked on The Killers 2010 breakthrough album 'Day & age'. It's a record about lust, heart breaks, isolation, friendship and just day to day life.

Mood board
I have gathered together a load of images that represent my target audience. Bands and artists that they listen to; shops and places that they go to. I have chosen a famous song by Green Day to play over the images because this is a well known band that my target audience listen to.

Proposal
I
am going to create a half indie and half rock magazine; I decided to do this
because I will then make more money as my magazine is open to a bigger
audience. My target audience is male/females that are teenagers or young adults
that enjoy going to festivals and reading news and articles about their favourite
bands. My magazine will have a colour scheme or black, white and green. I decided
to go for these colours because it reflects on the genre of the music; the
colour black represents the darkness and heaviness in the rock music. By having
the colour green being used it makes the magazine jump out from the shelf and
catch the reader’s eyes, it’s also unisex.
My magazine deserves a place in the shops today because it’s something unique and different what will have something inside for nearly everyone. Its unique selling point is having a QR code and having my pages coloured at the top corner either with a red dot a blue dot, or a green dot. This is to represent how heavy the music it is so the audience can read articles on the genre of music there interested in and become aware of the new up and coming bands. My magazine will be very stylish however it will also have a rocky, messy edgy vibe within it. I will display this with my photographs by dressing my model in a unique way, with strange patterned clothing with big bold hair and make-up. The location of my photo shoot will probably either be in Camden or Shoreditch; these are full of the target audience for my magazine and they will be more attracted to my magazine with Camden and there favourite shopping places in the background. It will make them feel a part of my magazine because they would have been in the same location. My magazine will be sold monthly, each month it will include photography pages of concerts that have gone on in that month, articles from festivals and gigs, and how to get the look page.
I will also have monthly a competition to enter to win a ticket to an up and coming concert or festival. This will make my audience want to by my magazine because concert tickets are very expensive; by my magazine giving out one for free many people will just by my magazine to enter the competition. The price of my magazine will be £4.00 the reason it is so expensive is because my magazine is aimed at teenagers and young adults, most of my audience will be working and from a middle class. My magazine is only produced monthly and has many pages inside so it’s really worth its money, especially if you win the competition. Each month my colour scheme will slightly change, it will always be black and white however the bright colour will change each month. I’ve decided to do this because It’s something unique, it will make my magazine stand out from the rest and look funky and bright.
I think what I’m about to develop will be highly successful because it’s something unique and exciting.
The purpose of writing a proposal is so that I can put down all my ideas of what I would like my magazine to be like. This is very beneficial for me when it comes to making my final product, as I can use the proposal as a reference to what I have decided to include in my final product and whether or not i've been following them.
